I chose to do a story on Paris, France because while abroad last year I was lucky enough to visit there. It was one of my favorite places that I was able to visit and it holds a special place amongst my memories. I wanted to do a story that was about Paris but more specifically how you could fall in love with the city of Paris because of all the wonderful things it has to offer. The headline of my story was inspired by the neighborhood in Paris I was staying in, "Bastille", pronounced Ba-steal. Bastille is a neighborhood/ popular metro stop, not far from the Seine river or Notre Dame. It is also where the Bastille prison was located before it was stormed and demolished during 1789.
For my Headline I chose Bodoni because I felt it had a classic yet modern feel to it. For my body text I chose Garamound. I tried out many of the body texts that were suggested in class and I really like the weight and readability of Garamound. I chose red as an accent color and highlighted certain words and my pull quotes in them. I also chose many of my photographs to go along with this so the layout has and overall red/ black/ white theme. Colors which are stereotypically associated with Parisians and the Parisian black and white stripe.

I scrolling through the posts and your magazine really caught my eye. The pictures for your cover and "wow" spread is really great and your "wow" spread is definitely a wow factor. I really like the placement of the headline and deck head on your wow spread, i think it really works. For your second spread, I think everything looks very nice together, the pull quotes and photos work together nicely and your side bar fits really nice on the bottom of the page.
