Hierarchy

1. The website I chose is the one I most frequently visit, in fact it is my homepage when I open up the internet, espn.com. This webpage displays good hierarchy. At the very top of the webpage they have all the current scores from all different sports this then leads the viewer to the biggest and most visual pleasing part of the webpage which displays the biggest picture and the headline story. This is the biggest because it is what most people want to read. To the side they have a navigation bar with quick links to the most recent stories that users might also be interested in. Clearly the most important things on the webpage are the biggest and most likely involve a visual.
2. The dominant thing on the webpage is also the most visual pleasing. This is done on purpose to attract the reader to the most important thing. In this case it is a picture of Ben Roethilisberger with the story attached to the picture right underneath it. This is placed at the top of the page for hierarchal reasons.
3. The overall web layout is good because it gives the viewer what they want to see. The most important things are the most visible on the page.
4. I think that they have to much on the main page and this can overwhelm the user. I think they can improve upon putting less things on the main page.
