For this project, I chose to do a story on John Brantley, the quarterback who is replacing Heisman Trophy winner and Florida Gator legend Tim Tebow. I decided to go with a simple cover with a simple name. The nickname of the stadium they play in is "The Swamp" and I chose a picture panning into it for the cover. The name choice for the article is centered around Brantley needing to fill Tebow's shoes. I arranged the title so the word "Shadow" would be cut in half by the stadium and black box, or day and night. On the left was the legend and on the right in the shadows, his replacement. The article itself was a smaller piece so I had to go with a slightly larger font. The two images I chose both went with parts of the article.
The cover font is Stencil Std. I liked it because it had a locker room feel to it. The title was done in Castellar and I feel in love with it because it had a very elegant feel to it, much like the Heisman Trophy. I used the color of the trophy as the color of the letters. The dechead was done in Adobe Caslon Pro because it had good counters and x height for a deckhead. I did the article in Century because it was my favorite of the recommended fonts for this type of article. My sidebar is about the last time a quarterback had to replace a quarterback as good as Tebow and was done in Garamond because it was my second favorite font. All of the colors in the magazine were sampled from the pictures.
