I love the New York Times website because it is so easy to navigate and find the stories that I am most interested in. It is very interactive with a lot of videos and photos. If I want to look at today's issue, there is a quick and very assessable tab at the top of the page. Clicking on this tab will not only show me the major headline stories but an image of the newspaper's front page. It is very easy to look up articles in the search bar because you can filter stories based on content, date, and media type. The website also allows you to act as an active member of their site. You can create an account and gain more access to different content, as well as post comments on articles, blogs, and videos.
When I go on nytimes.com, I often look at the front page stories for that day and then check out the videos. Both of these links are accessible and clearly marked at the top. I also like how the sections of the newspaper are listed in a column on the left-hand side of the site. These link you to all of the latest stories in those sections. I usually look at the Health and Arts sections, which connect me to more articles, videos, and photos. They also have a feature called Times Topics which is great for learning more about one topic or doing an assignment on a particular topic. This tab is also located at the top of the page. Once you click on it, you can see the top ten most popular topics that people are currently writing about. There is also an alphabetized list of topics. This feature allows you to look at a variety of different articles relating to one topic. The website utilizes great placement of its links, which is important since The New York Times has so much different information to offer. I find the site to be well designed in the sense that it is visually appealing and it can be quickly navigated.
