Week 13 Hierarchy | Pruitt

One website that has very strong hierarchy is cwtv.com. It features a large section that features moving advertisements for the shows that will air that night on the CW. From there, my eyes go down where they have smaller boxes with shows that are most popular on the website and the shows that they are advertising in the larger box. If you click on those, they take you to the page on the site for that show. The smaller boxes are there because they feel like most of the people who visit their website will be interested in those shows. Above the large interactive box is a nav bar where you can click on different things like full episodes, photos, shows, and other things. The hierarchy is obviously trying to get viewers to watch the shows that they are going to be airing and that is why the ads for their shows for that night are the largest part of the website. The largest part is not specifically helpful to the users, but it does help the television station to attract viewers. I think that that is very smart and it also can be convenient for viewers who are interested in the shows that they know are going to be airing that night. However, I do feel like they advertise the shows of that night a little too much. They put links to those shows above and below the larger changing box with those shows. I think that that is a little overkill.
