1. The Gestalt principle of “closure” is quite evident in the World Wildlife Fund logo. Even though an outline doesn’t exist, the black indicates the well-known characteristics of a panda and the image comes together as a whole because of those known characteristics.
2. This logo obviously communicates that the organization works with wildlife (if you don’t know what company it is) and they work with wildlife that is endangered and needs protection. The bear is the primary focus of the logo indicating that the wildlife is the primary focus of the organization.
3. The WWF logo is often used without the text “WWF” so the organization really relies on the logo itself to inform the public. The use of black and white is so simple, but because those are the natural colors of the panda the lack of an outline makes the design come together to form the bear. In the logo including the text, the panda is the larger image of the design, so the importance of wildlife is reinforced in their logo.
