Project 3 | Tocci

I am a magazine journalism major, so I wanted my logo to reflect writing. The scribbled “T” is meant to indicate that I am a writer and always scribbling something down. The simple black “E” combined with the pink “T” suggests that I am professional when I need to be, but that I enjoy having fun as well, especially when I’m writing. I want my logo to reflect that I am dependable and conscientious, but that writing is an integral part of me.

I chose Trebuchet MS Regular because it looks both professional and approachable. I also liked that it was a sans serif font, because it appears more contemporary and trendy than traditional serif fonts. I also felt it is a readable, versatile font from which any reader could effectively receive my information.

To create the black “E” in my logo, I used the line tool in Illustrator. I increased the stroke on the black lines to 5 point, and 3 point for the pink lines. To emphasize the “T,” I used the scribble effect tool in Illustrator and then applied a pink color in the CMYK color model. I think the contrast between the pink and black makes the logo pop, and the simplicity of the visual prevents it from becoming too cryptic or confusing. The logo was also versatile, as I was decreased the stroke and decreased the overall image size to make it fit more appropriately onto the envelope in the stationary set.
