1. This logo uses the principles of isomorphic correspondence and figure/ground.
2. DreamWorks is an animation company for family pictures. I think this logo captures that feeling of childhood fantasies perfectly. I'm not sure that kids even still do this, but I remember pulling fish out of the water with just a stick, line, hook, and worm. The kid on the moon here reminds of how fun that time was for me. I think many people can relate to the feeling of being a kid, alone with your thoughts, and just being amazed by the world around you. I think it's completely appropriate.
3. Dreamworks plays with their logo regularly, and thus they can make color and placement work for them one a movie to movie basis. They can amp up the color in their wordmark to boost excitement or create dreaminess with the monochromatic colors of night. They sometimes have the boy floating in with balloons, and I think I remember the main character of some movie falling off the moon once (although I can't track that one down at the moment). All these little changes help keep the viewer believing that anything is possible.
