Week 7 color post : Lang

Coke has always come up with creative ads, but for their "the Coke side of life" campaign they decided to use a coke bottle and have different themes emerging from the bottle. I chose this particular picture because I really like the contrast between the black background and the bright colors coming out of the white bottle and the color splats nest to the bottom of the bottle. I think the color use in this poster is really effective. There is already a contrast between the black background and white bottle and then added the 6 other bight bold colors really makes this pop. I also like how the red color turns into hand making the shaka symbol and is away from the rest of the colors. When i first saw this picture it made it happy. With the combination of bright colors and the thumbs up it creative a positive feeling and the positive feeling would probably come back the next time i drink Coke. The color of the typeface is also interesting to point out because the name Coke is usually red and this time they changed it to black against the white bottle and the surrounding words are in white against the black background, so that also really brings out the phrase "the Coke side of life" on this poster.
For the subtle use of color, I chose this Guess ad for perfume. The woman and the background is in grayscale and then you see the perfume bottle in light brown/gold color and the company name and Guess and the designer in a yellowish color. I think this ads is successful in what it is trying to sell because it is a perfume ad and the focus is on the perfume bottle and not so much the woman in the back trying to sell it. Even though she is posing seductively, the focus still remains on the color bottle. The color chosen for this was very appropriate and it was not a bright obnoxious color but a nice subtle color that still allowed the viewer to focus on the product. I think the overall feel of this ad is very classy and simple. It can give off the impression that everyone woman who uses this can feel as pretty as she is but all it takes is just this perfume and nothing else.
