Although I would prefer Coca-Cola over Pepsi any day, this Pepsi ad does a very good job creating a strong visual through its use of color. I love the use of bright, saturated colors. The warm colors and cool colors work very well to compliment each other. The ad does not use an overwhelming number of different colors but instead uses varying saturations of the same hue. The red really catches a person's eye and shows that action is occurring in the ad, while the bright blue makes the ad appear friendly for all viewers. The use of white is also very effective as it seems like the brightest color in the ad and makes a great contrast with the other colors. Through its use of color, Pepsi has made a visually appealing ad that is both clever and fun.
This TV commercial for Absolut vodka uses very subdue colors but is still able to convey a strong message. The commercial uses white, shades of grey, black, and a little bit of dark blue.
Although these colors are somewhat dull, the commercial still creates a good contrast. The building of the bottle is very effective because the sparkling glass makes everything appear very sophisticated and high quality. The black background makes the commercial seem a bit dramatic. The dark blue of the Absolut label is used sparingly but also gives the brand power. Overall, the colors in this commercial help the audience view this particular brand as a step above the rest.
