McGlinchey- COLOR

This is a black and white advertisement for Givenchy. I was looking through a lot of black and white advertisements. What I found were a lot of high end designer whose were advertising their colognes or perfumes using half naked beautiful people lying on a beach or caressing themselves with the perfume bottle. HAH but that must be what it takes to sell expensive perfume. This one stood out to me not only because of the high contrast and great composition of the photo but also because it was a more "real" situation. Mainly because he had his clothes on. Monochrome of lack of vibrant color works really well in high fashion. I think mainly because it washes away flaws or imperfections. It gives it that "pleasantville" perfect appearance and works well for what they are trying to achieve.
When I think about color in the media, this image is the first thing that pops into my mind. Vibrant, attention grabbing, memorable and so very apple. This is clearly an example of the use of many bold colors. I think it is something that apple does very well. Technology is associated with nuetral cold colors like chrome, black and white. Adding these vibrant colors really draws people in and gets them interested in the product. Apple is fantastic at doing this. Aside from selling fantastic products their marketing is half if not 75% of why they are successful. I mean look at that photo, who wouldn't want one?
