Logo Project | Neufang

I chose my majors with a challenge for myself in mind. Both advertising and marketing are regarded as spawning untrustworthy professionals. And yet these professionals have the power to revolutionize the way that business is conducted.

I wanted my logo to convey the global scale on which I wish to operate. I also wanted to convey a feeling of change and revolution. I plan on working to make companies and their products more sustainable. I want to work on furthering the “green” revolution and encouraging people buy products from more sustainable companies.

My logo also conveys some more personal aspects of myself; I wanted to represent myself as a mother and a lover of the sun and moon. I like to garden and lay in the grass. I often ponder the universe and the cycle of life. Green just so happens to be one of my favorite colors.

I wanted something on the back of my business cared that would describe all of the things above. I had originally chosen a poem that I had written myself, but then I decided to use something a little less abstract. The quote by Black Elk is appropriate because I am Native American and his words convey what I wanted to say. I think it is a gentle way of creating interest in my card—compelling but not overwhelming.

I chose the Zapfino typeface to represent my name with the logo. The script looks natural and elegant, and goes with my theme of getting back to the earth. I chose Garamond for contact information and the quote on the back of my card because it is traditional, again keeping with the idea of getting back to our roots. Additionally it is easy to read, and therefore effective on the small scale I needed it to be.

I chose to use a nice bright green as my only accent color (CMYK=75/0/100/0). Obviously I needed to keep with my earthy theme, but also I think it is representative of who I am. It is a very relaxing color, but hopeful at the same time. I wanted to be subtle, but still hold the audience’s attention. I want people to look at these pieces and reflect on them. I’m not trying to persuade anyone into doing anything for me; I simply want to communicate.
