Project 1: Resume & Wordmark | Young

Prior to designing my resume I knew that I wanted to be perceived as being creative, youthful, modern, and direct. I tried to accomplish these elements by creating a document that is easy to read, simple, incorporated color, and utilized both traditional and modern design elements. For my wordmark I chose Baskerville regular and for the body of my resume I chose Gills Sans in both regular and in bold. I chose to pair a serif font with a more modern sans serif font because firstly, I think that they compliment each other nicely, and secondly that I want to be perceived as being both modern and youthful, but also not too young or immature at the same time. I chose to use all lowercase letters to add a youthful element to the design; I tried all capitals as well, and I think that it looks better lowercase. For paper I chose to use 32 pound paper in white just to give it some added weight and thickness.

  1. I told you this in our group but I really liked your resume. The border is creative yet professional addition. I love how you used the same green in the dots as in your headers - excellent visual gestalt.

  2. Jillian,
I like this wordmark - why the green "e." What is that saying about you and your skill sets?
    Cheers,

  3. I love your resume as I said in class. I believe the green background is great visual gestalt as w Ben said. However, i'm even more in love with your wordmark. I think the bold black circle with your name in white accented by green in the "e" and dot of the "i" in your name work great in contrast to your green border that has both curved and sharp edges.
