Today I was on the bus coming to Syracuse when I noticed the Sunoco logo. It is very eye-catching because of its perfect alignment. The letters are all caps, the same height, thick and inflated. Sunoco is a gas station, which provides a car with fuel to move, and you get the same feeling by looking at the logo. It is italicized and seems like the letters themselves are about to start speeding. Take a look for yourself! Also the bright colors, navy blue with the yellow and red are colors you see in racing cars. The sun is yellow and it's a form of energy and so is Sunoco supposed to be. The thickness of the letters just draw you in because it's so heavy that it's hard to miss.
Another logo that caught my eye, it's the Dove logo. It is so delicate, soft and uses very lightly, well defined, thin strokes. I read somewhere that it was originally hand made, but throughout the years the logo has being modernized. All the letters are aligned at the same x-height except for the first letter, the "D." The letters are bold, and semi italicized. It kind of reminds me of the Adobe Garamond Bold font, but the Dove logo is more relaxed. The purpose of the soap is softness, delicacy, soothing, and the logo fill all those purposes. I really like it.

Mabel,
ReplyDeletePlease don't post examples that have already been used. Good analysis on the Sunoco logo - you're getting ahead of us on color analysis too!
Keep up the good work.
Cheers,
