When the project was first introduced and Professor Taylor talked about wordmarks, I knew I wanted to do something with the initials of my name. Ben and Berk both start with B, so I figured I could use one bigger letter to draw the eye in. I used a small amount of leading and kerning to fit the rest of my first and last names together, especially concerning the descender on the J and the ascender of the K. For my typeface, I chose Bodoni Standard. It is a fairly versatile typeface and I felt it looked professional. I didn't want to have my resume look too colorful or creative because the majority of the positions I will be applying to are writing positions. Therefore, I felt my resume should be more professional since artistic and graphic creativity was not my forte.
I tried to create visual gestalt by using the same blue color for the large B in the headers along the left hand side. That way, the eye is naturally drawn to the large B. So the reader first sees my name, then progresses down the headers where he or she will be drawn in to my information.
