I am hoping to present my resume to advertising agencies for something in the management side of the business. I want my wordmark to communicate my easy-going nature while balancing my professionalism. I want it to say something about my drive for innovation. I chose the font Friz Quadrata. It is more contemporary than the modern serifs of the days of the Lithographic trading cards; that was the feel that I originally wanted to go for. The serifs are so subtle I was hesitant to even qualify it as a serif font. But the serifs are present enough to communicate the professionalism I wanted. I think the bold "N" right in the center of my wordmark help to balance the quirky "a" and "g" at the ends of my names, with their funky curves and open counters. It was available in two weights, which is what I felt I needed to provide the contrast between my first and last names. This contrast is why I ultimately chose it over Falstaff, which I really wanted to use.
I tried to create a visual gestalt by continuing the medium weight, all lowercase typeface down the left side of my resume, and using the bold typeface and capitalizing the headers on the right side. I chose Lucida Sans for the body of my resume because it is east to read, contrasts my headers and wordmark, and continues my theme of contemporary innovation. I used a just a touch my favorite color to create interest and make my sidebar stand out. I have an ivory parchment to print on, which I hope adds a touch of sophistication and balances the quirkiness of Friz Quadrata.
