While working on this project, I hoped that my resume would show the employer that I am a neat and organized person and that I am serious about applying for a job. I used the color maroon against black and white to show subtle class with colors. The color is not obnoxious or grabbing too much attention, but it is enough to just catch a glimpse of it. For my layout, I chose to have the headers on the left hand side with a black and red divider. The body copy on my resume is arranged according to primary, secondary and tertiary information. I used different styles and font size according to the information presented. The name or title of the job experience and activity is in semi bold and size 12 font. The location and position is in a size 11 font and the dates are in italicized with a size 10 font.
The typeface I chose for my name on my resume is Goudy Old Style Std. I chose this typeface because I really liked how the lower case g looked. I wanted to put an emphasis on my last name so I made it bigger than my first name and I made it the color maroon. I feel that emphasizing my last name was better because my first name is such a common name so I wanted my name to stand out by using my last name. For the body of my resume, I used the typeface New Calendonia Lt Std and the different styles of semi bold, italic and regular. The headers on the right hand side for the section experience is in a size 12 and semi bold style and then the location of the job experience is in a regular style and then ending with the date of employment in an italicized style. I chose this font because I really like the way it looked on the body copy. I found it easy to read and using the different styles and size made it even easier to skim through the information. I also really liked how round all the curved letters were and I felt that it made the words stand out more. I didn’t want to use bullet points for any of my section experiences because it would only be for one line and I felt that it would have just looked like a straight line of bullet points down and that it wouldn’t have made anything stand out. I chose to use lowercase letters on the headers on the left hand side because I really like the way lower case letters look and I feel that by using lower case letters that it is creating a friendlier atmosphere instead of big all caps letters that were very dominant. I wanted my resume to be simple and clean but also with a little bit of color to make it stand out. I chose to use serif fonts to create a more traditional and classy look for my resume. I hope that my resume was able to express all the ideas that I would want an employer to know.
